About Us

Carson City Health and Human Services’ Tobacco Control Program strives to raise awareness about smoking and tobacco-related issues through various strategies which include media campaigns, community outreach, educational materials and resources developed for specific population groups and communities.

Tobacco Control Program’s four major goals:

  • Prevent youth initiation of smoking or vaping
  • Promote cessations among youth and adults
  • Eliminate secondhand exposure
  • Eliminate health disparities among diverse populations

Presentations

Each year, CCHHS’ Tobacco program puts on numerous presentation to a wide variety of community members – from our school aged youth to healthcare, education and public service workers.

Community Collaborations

We value the strength in partnering to bring the most up-to-date and valuable resources to our community. In order to achieve this, we seek out active partnerships and work frequently with our neighborhood and statewide partners including Nevada Tobacco Prevention Coalition (NTPC), Washoe County Health District, Southern Nevada Health District, Statewide coalitions which include Healthy Community Coalition, Partnership Carson City, and Partnership Douglas County among many others.

Youth Engagement

Our youth focused information and research is only as effective as the youth we partner with. We value the voices of the next generation in championing health information for their peers and actively seek opportunities to spark this interest. While CCHHS doesn’t maintain a youth group, we partner with many agencies who do. Additionally we offer a lot of youth focused health information for dissemination, presentations and internship opportunities.
