For summer’s most visible meteor showers, join the Carson City Parks, Rec & Open Space Department at Western Nevada College’s Jack C. Davis Observatory for some late night, educational fun! Both viewing parties are free to the public & all ages are welcome. No pre-registration necessary. Please wear close-toed shoes & bring water for night hiking from the Observatory. Head lamps and flashlights are allowed. Parking at the Observatory can be found at 2699 Vanpatten Ave, Carson City. Please call (775) 281-7711 with any questions.
This upcoming Monday is the Aquariids Viewing Party starting at 12:00 am Tuesday (technically Monday night) and this will be great viewing conditions for a meteor shower due to the new moon! The Perseids Viewing Party will be two weeks after at the same time.
Please bring blankets for the Meteor Shower events.
