The free event is for children ages 6 to 10. It will begin at the Carson City Wal-Mart (off East College Parkway at 3200 Market Street) in the northeast corner of the parking lot. After a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially inaugurate the path, trained bicycle safety educators will offer a bike safety rodeo. From there, young participants will ride along the freeway path to Lompa Lane, practicing their safe riding skills, then return to the beginning. All participants will receive "goodie bags" full of age-appropriate information on safe bicycling techniques and tips, as well as safety devices such as wheel reflectors. Heathly refreshment also will be available.
All participants must bring a bicycle and bicycle helmet (a limited number of helmets and bicycles will be available to borrow at the event), must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and parents must sign a waiver and release of liability. Participants must also know how to ride a bicycle.
