Carson City Library Celebrates the 50th Anniversary of National Library Week!
The Carson City Library is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of National Library Week, April 13th through the 19th. Fifty years ago the American Library Association began the tradition of recognizing libraries and their contributions during a week in April. The very first theme was, "Wake up and Read", which is why the Carson City Library is commemorating the 50th Anniversary with this original theme.
The library is sponsoring a week of events for the community beginning on Monday, the 14th. The list of events include: Cowboy Poet, Doris Daley; Harper Collins' Author, Masha Hamilton; UNR's Dan Weigel, Literacy Workshop; Box Sled Publishing Authors, Marshall Brodeur, Dennis Cassinelli, and Valerie Kneefel; and a SOCK HOP on Saturday evening at the Carson Middle School Gym. In addition to these programs there will also be a free 1950's Science Fiction Film Festival with classic sci-fi films every afternoon at 3:00pm in the Library auditorium.
For a complete list of events you may click here or go to the Library Events page.
Thanks to all for joining the Carson City Library in this special celebration!
