Carson City’s Mayor, Board of Supervisors, City Manager, District Attorney, Sheriff and Fire Chief would like to invite citizens to a community event this Saturday, September 17, at 1:30 p.m. in the Theater of the Carson City Community Center.

These community leaders have invited the National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA) to provide an opportunity for members of the community to discuss their reactions to the September 6^th shooting at the IHOP in South Carson City. This meeting is for people who have strongly been affected by the incident. It will also provide opportunities for the community-at-large to have a private context to discuss their experiences in the aftermath of the shooting as well as how they are coping.

Trained facilitators will guide this discussion which will last between 60-90 minutes. It is open to any member of the public who has been affected by this incident.

The National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA) is a private, non-profit, 501(c)(3). Founded in 1975, NOVA is the oldest national group of its kind in the worldwide victims’ movement. NOVA’s mission is to champion dignity and compassion for victims of crime and crisis. And since 1986, NOVA has been providing crisis response training and teams to mass-casualty crimes and disasters all over the nation and in other parts of the world.
