On October 4th, Dunkin' Donuts, at 2190 East
Williams Street, will host Carson City’s first “Coffee with a Cop” social from
11:30 to 1:00 p.m. “Coffee with a Cop”
is a growing initiative across America with over 650 law enforcement agencies
in 47 states participating. The goal of
the meeting is to allow officers and the community a relaxed time to exchange
topics and share information in a setting where crisis or other 911 related
events are not taking place. This is a
time to get to know one-another and share interests.
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office uses many
opportunities to educate the public about the mission and values of the
department, but this agenda free event focusses more toward informal chatting
with those professionals in the community who are actually serving you. When you arrive, officers from the Sheriff’s
Office and Nevada Highway Patrol will be on hand to share coffee over the table
and learn more about what concerns you.
When it comes to the effectiveness and efficiency of
the local law enforcement agency, the trust and relationships shared with the
communities are vital. This lunch time
social expands the current activities already in place, including National
Night Out, Cops N Kids Open House, Shop with a Hero, Citizens Academy, and
other activities that foster community relationship building. And, says Sheriff Furlong, it just makes
sense that we add this to our calendar.
Please stop by Dunkin' Donuts at lunch time on October
4th and share a cup…..
