Commercial tobacco use remains the leading cause of preventable disease, disability, and death in the United States.

Smoking harms nearly every organ of the body. 

We know 30.8 million adults smoke, 3.08 million middle and high school students use tobacco products, and 1 in 4 people who do not smoke are exposed to secondhand smoke.

Approximately 480,000 death each year associated with smoking or exposure to secondhand smoke, and 16 million people are currently suffering from a smoking-related illness.

The Nevada Tobacco Quitline provides FREE one on one counseling to Nevada residents 13 years and older.   You and your quit coach will develop an individualized plan to help you quit.  For those 18 and older, many may qualify for FREE nicotine replacement therapy (gum, patches, or lozenges) to assist you in quitting.  Services available in English, Spanish, and other languages.

The Quitline also provides FREE online services.  When you enroll online, you can get additional tools, support, and a community of others trying to become tobacco free.  Experts will help you overcome common barriers such as dealing with stress, cravings, irritability, and weight gain.

My Life My Quit

The My Life, My Quit program is a free and confidential service for teens 17 years and younger who want help quitting all forms of tobacco including vaping. Coaches receive extensive training as tobacco treatment specialists through our CTTTP-accredited program, with additional training on adolescent cognitive and psychosocial development from a psychologist and professor at Stanford University who specializes in adolescent tobacco prevention.

Coaches use motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral techniques to help teens:

• Develop a quit plan.

• Identify triggers for tobacco use.

• Practice refusal skills.

• Obtain ongoing support for changing behaviors.

Teens who participate in the program receive:

• Five, one-on-one coaching sessions usually scheduled every 7-10 days.

• Self-help and educational materials with input from teens.

• Real-time support available anytime over the phone, and with limited hours by text messaging or online chat

My Life, My Quit does not provide cessation medications to anyone under age 18. Teens who request medications are referred to a healthcare professional to discuss whether medications are an option to support their quit attempt.

My Life, My Quit is developed and operated by National Jewish Health, the nation's leading respiratory hospital and academic research center. National Jewish Health operates Quitline programs in numerous states and has helped more than one million people with their quit attempts.
