Carson City Health and Human Services oversees public institutions including public and private elementary, middle and high schools, jail and detention centers. These entities shall have a health permit as required by Carson City Municipal Code before beginning any operation. Schools shall be inspected on a biannual basis in accordance with Nevada Revised Statue (NRS) 444. Jail and detention centers shall be inspected on an annual basis in accordance with Nevada Administrative Code 211.  

Institutions that provide food shall have a health permit as required by Carson City Municipal Code before beginning operation, and shall be inspected annually in accordance with NAC 432A.260 and NAC 446.
